Selective mutism is an anxiety disorder in which a child does not speak in specific social situations, he is expected to speak and has the ability to do so. Children with selective mutism difficult to cultivate similar skills to those of their peers while deficient in language and social skills, as well as their academic progress. Difficult to form friendships, and often ignored by their peers. Also, difficulties encountered and teachers are invited to cope with the specific characteristics of these children. The present study is a qualitative research and specifically a case study. Its purpose was to look into the institutional educational context parameter function, which jointly shape the social and pedagogical relations and interactions of a child with selective mutism. Sample was a 11 year old child, who already from pre-school age not verbally communicate at school and talking to family and friends in non-formal. The tools used for data collection were: the sociometric test of Moreno, the questionnaire «School Speech Questionnaire», the questionnaire «Selective Mutism Questionnaire», semistructured interviews with the child's family, with the teachers and two education officials. Finally held non-participant observation of the child during the school break. The results showed that the child being studied, it is ignored by his classmates. Concerning teachers, the study showed deficiencies in education and institutional support that allows them to develop strategies for the child's progress. Overall, this research sheds light on interesting aspects of the life of a child with selective mutism and refers to the need for systematic examination of the specific needs and possible ways of supporting children in schools
