Η αποτελεσματικότητα του ολοήμερου νηπιαγωγείου στη βελτίωση των γλωσσικών ικανοτήτων των παιδιών που φοιτούν σε αυτό (Master thesis)

The present study examines how the all-day kindergarten or the kindergarten of extended schedule improves the linguistic abilities of children, more precisely their vocabulary in comparison the half-day kindergarten or the classic kindergarten. A research took place in which sixty children of kindergarten (all-day and classic) participated from two age-related teams; half of them were infants and half pre-infants. All children were called to identify the meaning of twenty words-significance, from the weighted vocabulary test, of the “Athina” test. The research was constituted by two separate phases. The first phase took place in December 2007 and the second in March 2008. The reason that the vocabulary test was applied in two different time periods was to investigate the level of linguistic growth of children and specifically how much the comprehension of vocabulary is developed to them from one period to the other. Also the differentiations of answers between the children that study in classic and in all-day kindergarten’s department were detected. From the results of this research, it became obvious that in the first measurement the factor “type of kindergarten”, was not found to influence statistically considerably; a statistically important difference was not found between the children that attended classic of all-day Kindergarten. The only factor that influenced was that of the age; the infants had statistically better performance than the pre-infants. In the other hand, a statistically important difference was found in the second measurement, in favour of children that attended all-day kindergarten.
