Τhe educational policy during the Metaxas dictatorship in Greece (1936-1940) (Master thesis)

The purpose of this study is the projection of the propaganda techniques, which were hidden behind the educational policy of the Metaxas dictatorship, as they were presented by taking into consideration the relevant bibliography, the indexing magazines and the study of the institutional framework of that period. This is actually an attempt to present the most basic propaganda mechanisms, which emerged from all the aspects of young people’s lives: the educational system, EON and the various student privileges. The research has highlighted the ideological orientations of the new school, the deeper motivations of the character and the structure adopted by the educational system, the supervisory and administrative mechanism, the interference in curricula and paraprogrammata, the pedagogic process, the teaching language, the EON’s regulatory system of value, the goals and forced-propaganda consolidating adjustments, and finally, government’s social policy and the deepest internal processes, which undermines behind it
