Administrative culture in education (Master thesis)

This study focus on administrative culture in education. More specifically, there was an attempt both through systematic study of existing and relevant bibliography and secondary data to adapt the theoretical framework of administrative culture in educational events and educational Executives. The main purpose, therefore, of this study was the crystallization and the construction of the term “administrative culture” in educational affairs. Side goals were the separation of term under discussion into its components and the study and analysis of them, the understanding of the configuration mode and change of culture, the recording of meaningful culture’s consequences for the actors in the field of educational administration. Furthermore, another goal was the highlighting of the determinant impact of national culture on educational management and leadership, which should now be assigned to the appropriate relevance. To achieve the main objective and the specific objectives was considered appropriate and necessary yet to demonstrate the plurality of views dominating by the various sciences which study this issue, namely public administration, educational science, organizational psychology e.t.c. In this study, among others, administrative culture consists of «shared behavioral norms, shared values and deeper assumptions among educational administrators» and it is emphasized the need to move the field of interest of Greek educational bibliography more at the new perspective offered by the culture generally with systematic and intensive studies and researches but most important, it is highlightened the crucial role of administrative culture in management effectiveness and in workforce which acquires culture through its socialisation, and also the State’s responsibility to change and quality reform the culture of administrators
