The views of primary school teachers on the contribution of the communication skills of the school principal to its proper functioning: theoretical and research approach (Master thesis)

Nowadays, the rapid developments in the political, social, technological and economic field, also bring about significant changes in the workplace. The labor market, in order to meet current demands, increases its requirements, creating a competitive framework between both organizations – companies and employees of an organization. The educational field, accepting the effects of the other fields, as there is a relationship of dependence and interaction among them, changes and evolves continuously. Securing success through the effective operation of the school unit, is considered a key concern of each school organization. The communication skills of the Principal ensure a better communication relationship between school community members, positively influencing the smooth and efficient functioning of the school community. The object of the present research is to investigate the role of the communication skills of the Primary school Principal in its proper functioning, through the visual aspect of the teachers. For the specific reason, one hundred (100) primary education teachers from Alexandroupoli were asked about: The quality of the relations between them and their Principal The degree of communication skills provided by their Principal The importance of communication skills in the smooth operation of the school unit The data were obtained through quantitative research, having as a research tool the questionnaire. The results of the survey, after the data collection, showed that the majority of the teachers believe that: The communicative relations between the teachers and the Principals are quite good and there is a cooperative climate between them The Principals have communicative skills to a satisfactory degree Communication skills are a key component of an effective school unit and ensure its smooth operation
