The main purpose of this study is to investigate the non-formal (athletic and artistic activities, tutorial courses) and informal activities (games with friends, reading books, visiting libraries etc.) that contribute to the process of learning school-age children in the city of Alexandroupolis, as well as the free time they spend on them and the incentives that motivate them in such activities. In addition, it is investigated whether the gender, class, and parents’ profession affect students’ choices. The survey was conducted in April 2017 in randomly selected schools of the city. The sample consisted of 60 pupils of 5th and 6th grade of elementary school, of 60 students of 2nd and 3rd grade of secondary school and 60 students of 1st ,2nd and 3rd grade of lyceum, 180 students in total, who filled out anonymously and voluntarily a questionnaire in their class that lasted approximately 20 minutes.
