Χατζηγιαννάκου, Μαρίνα/ Chatzigiannakou, Marina

The institution of teacher training as “screen” for the treatment of contemporary educational challenges holds a dominant position in the formation of contemporary and effective educational policy. In this dissertation, an approach of teachers’ training policy of two European States, Greece and Cyprus is attempted. Apart from general interest forms of training (introductory, administrative, distant), the dissertation pursues the actions and the initiatives intending to prepare the teachers of primary and secondary education to confront with the contemporary challenges in the regime of education: namely, the introduction and incorporation of Informational and Communicational Technologies in the educational procedure, the education of “general class” disabled children or/and special educational needs (Special Education) and foreign students (intercultural education). The comparative analysis aims to designate the contemporary policies adopted on the basis of European standards, any potential convergence and deviations which may arise
