The understanding and reproduction multimodal texts of natural science from students in preschool and primary school (Bachelor thesis)

In summary, the dissertation entitled “The understanding and production of multi modal texts of natural science by children of preschool and primary education”, refers to what extend children of these particular ages have the ability to comprehend multimodal texts and analyze data. In addition, we analyze theoretically the concepts of multimodality, of natural sciences in order to analyze the reasons why natural sciences are taught at schools, how they should be taught and which skills are acquired by children and the notion of the ecosystem. Moreover, some researches concerning multimodality on natural science both in Greece and internationally are presented. Furthermore, we present the investigative tools which were used for the conduct of the reasearch that we carried out at a kindergarten and Primary school are exhibited. Besides, the means we collected data is demonstrated. Finally, we present the results of the research in combination with both the conclusions we drew and the difficulties we faced as well as some future recommendations are indicated
