Education in Tsiartsiampa of Kozani (1900-1950) (Bachelor thesis)

This paper presents the education in the villages of a region, named Tsiartsiampas, of the prefecture of Kozani in Greece at the first half of the 20th century and is structured in two parts, the theoretical and the scientific one. At the theoretical part of the essay, the sociopolitical dimensions of Greece and the educational reforms of that period are, at first, mentioned. Moreover the educational status of the region of Macedonia, with particular emphasis at the kazades (counties) of the Kozani prefecture, is stated. There is also an analysis of the education provided at the villages of the region Tsiartsiampas which is the core topic of the paper. At the scientific part, the education offered at the villages of the region Tsiartsiampas during the turbulent period of 1950-1952, is examined. Furthermore, the sex of the students who studied at the schools of the region during those particular school years, their age when they came first time at the first grade of elementary school, their grades and also their parents’ profession are looked into. In the end, the paper contains an appendix in which, important documents of that period and pictures of the schools, are included
