The research problem that the present study deals with is the investigation of tourists’ environmental knowledge and attitudes visiting the region of Pozar therma springs in North Greece. The issue is of particular importance, since tourism is one of the most dynamic and fast-growing sectors of the economy globally. Greece, due to its unique geographical location, has a loading edge in every sector of alternative form of tourism. Emphasis is given on the thermal tourism and the thermal springs are analyzed in details as well as the properties deriving from them. A literature review was carried out on the meanings, types and forms of tourism. A structured questionnaire was administered to tourists who chose the region for recreation, with the aim of exploring knowledge and attitudes in general environmental issues. Based on the analysis of the survey results from 128 returned questionnaires, a rather sufficient level of knowledge was observed, with significant differences among the participants, while attitudes appeared to be quite proenvironmental, even in cases of tourists with limited environmental knowledge
