Κουκουρίκου, Θεοδώρα/ Koukourikou, Theodora

The present assignment analyzes six theatrical literature books written by two important authors, Giannis Xanthoulis and Eugene Trivizas, who are considered to be pioneers in contemporary Greek children’s literature. In the theoretical part of our study, we examine the evolution of the contemporary children’s theater in Greece and concentrate on the work of the most significant authors. We also examine the role that ideology plays in the writing but also in the reading of children’s literature in general and of drama in particular. In the second part of our study, we carry out a detailed analysis of three of Giannis Xanthoulis’s books and of three of Eugene Trivizas’s books, putting emphasis on the ideology which permeates each one of the plays. In the conclusion of our work, we point out the similarities and the differences between the works of the two authors and we also point out that both of them avoid didacticism and aim at awakening the interest and the imagination of their young readers, stimulating simultaneously their critical thinking
