Exploration of the conceptual field of preschool education teachers regarding the social dimension of sustainability (Master thesis)

The notion of sustainable development has proved to be really complicated, full of vagueness and unclear contradictions, since the early efforts made of forming a definition for this notion. The aim of this survey is to define the notions of kindergarten teachers in the prefecture of Kavala regarding sustainability and social sustainability, as well. The collection of data was carried out with the use of a questionnaire, which comprised three questions of an open-type. The analysis method used was the phenomenographical approach, through which an effort is being made by the above mentioned teachers to demonstrate the qualitatively different ways of comprehending sustainability – social sustainability as well as the way these are connected. As regards the findings of this survey, the notions of sustainability and social sustainability have proved to be not only complicated ones, including different aspects, but they have also proved to be notions with common connection points.
