Ιn -team favour in children of greek pre-schools (Master thesis)

According to social identity theory, the categorization of others explicitly or inextricably leads to the categorization of ourselves. This is why an important out-group activates knowledge about the in-group and an open conflict with it that enhances in-group identity, since social groups and categories are often in competition for resources, rights and power. Categorization causes inter-group bias.The members of each group evaluate the members of the ingroup and their outcome more positively than that of the members of the out-group. Just knowing that one person belongs to a social group can distort the judgment of others.Categorization reinforces the perceived similarities between members of a ingroup, namely that individuals belonging to a group are considered very similar to each other, as also reinforces differences between members of different groups, that is, individuals belonging to out-groups are condired more different than in-group members.What applies to adults, of course, also applies to children as well. Children adopt basically the views and criticisms of their parents and their peers. There have also been several studies that demonstrate that prejudice starts in preschool age, as it is a crusial period for shaping some social attitudes that can last until adulthood. Grouping according to group characteristics leads children to compare and formulate positive evaluations for the in-group and negative for the out-group.Τhe goal of this project is to evaluate the existence of an in-group favouritism as well as the existence of cross-sectional bias between preschool children and form different cultural backgrounds. The results of the research concern the measurement of the in-group favouritism for children triking under consideration other variables, such as sex, facial characteristics and place of origins.
