In vitro ωρίμανση ωαρίων (Master thesis)
Μποτζάκη, Μητροδώρα
H in vitro maturation (IVM) is an assisted reproductive technology in which the oocytes are recovered from follicles of unstimulated or minimally stimulated ovaries. This new technology has emerged as a promising process with advantages over the controlled ovarian stimulation, such as cost reduction, simplicity and elimination of ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome. By eliminating or reducing stimulation with gonadotropins, the IVM offers to selected groups of infertile couples a safe and convenient form of treatment and the results are now comparable with safety and efficacy to those of conventional in vitro fertilization treatments. IVM is mainly applied to patients with polycystic ovary syndrome or polycystic ovaries, but over time IVM has been extended to other unusual situations, such as the preservation of fertility and in regular patients. This thesis is going to study and describe all the above.
