Stereotyping and multiculturalism in kindergarten educators discourse regarding the Muslim minority of Thrace (Bachelor thesis)

The present paper aims to study stereotypes and prejudice in a multicultural society from the perspective of educationalists towards the Muslim minority of Thrace. Furthermore, it makes reference to sensitive social issues that have to do with national conscience and beliefs of pre-school educators as far as minority population is concerned. A basic aim is the diminishing of inequality and prejudice as well as the acceptance of a multicultural context. The survey was carried out using qualitative methods and data were analyzed using thematic analysis. The sample exclusively contains women preschool teachers in the area of Alexandroupolis, who were asked through semi-structured interviews to answer questions regarding the Muslim minority of Thrace. Answers are based on their own experiences and their ideologies. Research is connected with the educational procedure, due to the specific sample used, as well as with the plan of the interview that incorporates questions that regard the educational as well as the social context
