Choroidal thickness measurements in patients with central serous chorioretinopathy using enhanced depth imaging optical coherence tomography (Master thesis)
Τσιγκούλης, Ευάγγελος
The purpose of the study „Choroidal thickness measurements in patients with Central Serous Chorioretinopathy using Enhanced Depth Imaging Optical Coherence Tomography”, is to assess the choroidal thickness of affected and unaffected eyes of patients with central serous chorioretinopathy (CSCR), imaged with enhanced depth imaging optical coherence tomography (EDI-OCT). This diploma work has a general and a special section. The general section presents the relevant anatomy of the eye, notions on central serous chorioretinopathy (pathophysiology, epidemiology, clinical diagnosis and complications, investigations, treatment and management of the disease), and a view of the EDI-OCT platform (history of the OCT, technical details, clinical applications). In the special section, the investigative part of this work is presented. The choroidal thickness of affected and fellow eyes of patients with unilateral CSCR was evaluated from images acquired with the Cirrus HD-OCT using the EDI software and processed with the GIMP (v2.8.20) image processing software. The results of this study indicate that the choroidal thickness of eyes with CSCR from men is greater than the choroidal thickness of eyes with CSCR from women.
