Μελέτη των παραμέτρων του OCT, RNFL και GCL σε ασθενείς με πολλαπλή σκλήρυνση (Master thesis)

INTRODUCTION: Multiple sclerosis is a long-lasting autoimmune inflammatory demyelinating disease of the central nervous system. Optical coherence tomography is a non invasive technology that depicts in detail the retinal layers. GOALS - TARGET: To examine patients with multiple sclerosis clinically, mesure with OCT RNFL and GCC parameters and determine the possible correlates between them. METHOD: 199 patients with multiple sclerosis and 27 healthy subjects were examined. OCT measurements were made for the following parameters: average RNFL thickness, c/d area, rim area, RNFL thickness SN, NU, NL, IN, IT, TL, TU, ST, GCC total, FLV%, GLV%. The eyes were divided in 4 groups: healthy eyes of healthy sybjects (Α), eyes of patients who had no history of optic neuritis (ΟΝ) (Β), eyes of patients with no history of ON in either eye (C), eyes of patients that had a history of ON of the fellow eye (D). The mean scores of OCT parameters were compared between these 4 groups. The statistic analysis was performed with statistical analysis program SPSS 23.RESULTS: Between Α-Β there was a statistically significant difference in all parameters (p<0,001) except from the parameters c/d και Rim (p=0,239, p=0,596). Between Α-C there was a statistically significant difference in all parameters (p<0,05) apart from the Rim parameter (p=0,068). Between D-A there was a statistically significant difference in all parameters (p<0,05) except of the parameters NU και IN (p=0,074, p=0,056). Between C-B there was a statistically significant difference in parameters RNFL, ΙΝ, IT, TL, TU, ST, GCC, FLV, GLV (p<0,05). Between D-B 3 there was a statistically significant difference in parameters ΙΤ, GCC , FLV, GLV (p<0,05). Between C-D there was no statistically significant difference in any parameter (p>0,05).CONCLUSION: OCT can be used in order to diagnose and monitor patients with multiple sclerosis.
