The purpose of this study was i) to record and compare the possible eating disorders presented to students at A' and D' study year of the Faculty of Physical Education and Sport Science of the Democritus University of Thrace during the academic year 2013-2014 and ii) to analyze how they perceive the image of their body. The sample consisted of a hundred and twenty students of the Faculty of Physical Education and Sport Science of the Democritus University of Thrace (n = 120), students of the A' year (n = 60) and students of the D' year (n = 60). Measurements were made based on the height of upright and the body mass and there was determined the Body Mass Index (BMI). Moreover, the collection of data on eating habits was carried out with the Eating Attitudes Test (Eating Attitudes Test, EAT-26) which consists of 26 questions with responses based on a scale of six grades modeled according the Likert scales (always, usually, often, sometimes, rarely, never). For the body image the BSQ-34 questionnaire was used consisting of 34 questions, according to which the individuals are categorized into those who do not have any concerns about their body image (score <80), individuals who are relatively concerned (score 80-110), those that have moderate anxiety (score 111-140) and finally individuals who are highly concerned about their body image (score> 140). Data analysis showed that the average BMI of the A' year students was 22.70±1.93 Kg/m2 while of the D' year students 23.27±2.78 Kg/m2. 60% of the A΄ year students declared that they deal with diets, 30% that they control the food they eat and 10% that they suffer from bulimia and increased food intake. Similarly, for the students of the D' year these percentages were around 60% for the diet control, 22% for the food control and 18% for showing bulimia. However, no statistically significant differences were observed regarding the eating disorders among the students of the A' and the D' year of studies. Additionally, no significant differences were observed in body image perception among students of the A' and the D' year of studies. The results of this study show the eating habits and the body image perceptions of the students of the A' and the D' year of studies of the Faculty of Physical Education and Sport Science of the Democritus University of Thrace and it appears that the time of studying of the students of the D' year does not change their eating behaviours and disorders as well as their views on body image compared to the students of the A' year.
