The approach to cultural diversity through the use of Audiovisual Literacy (Master thesis)

The technological developments of the last decades, as a consequence of the phenomenon of globalization, have led the society to experience drastic changes at every level. In this context of change, the multicultural social reality is included, which is also reflected in the school environment. The use of audiovisual media in the classroom is considered a key dimension of understanding and accepting social diversity.
The purpose of this paper is to investigate whether the use of audiovisual literacy can help to cultivate the critical thinking of primary school students to understand and reach out to people from different cultural backgrounds.
The research conducted was mixed, through the use of questionnaires and observation. The sampling used was convenient and the sample of the research consisted of 13 students, primary school, attending an Intercultural School.
The results of the research showed that audiovisual literacy contributes to the development of students' critical spirit, to the development of respect for human personality and to the acceptance of regularity and diversity
