9th Nursery school of Alexandroupolis (Master thesis)

The motive for this paper to be implemented, was a presentation of an environmental project that took place at the 9th kindergarten of Alexandroupolis in December 2016, its subject was the water and the cycle of water. The project was designed and implemented by a group of 5 university students in order to fulfill their mandatory practicum requirements. One of the five students that participated constitutes the writer of this paper. Furthermore, the project was designed by using a work plan, specifically the group carried it out according to the “lesson study” method and its duration was two weeks, meaning ten days.This paper starts with the analysis of the theoretical part which is based in a bibliographic review. The first part illustrates the characteristics of the project and establishes that the project is about a form of teaching process based on human concerns and that the team is responsible for the lesson planning which aims mainly in the completion of a task leading to the solution of a problem. Moreover, in the first part the “lesson study” method is analyzed, which is considered to be an improved course teaching mean and a procedure where knowledge is constructed. Particularly, the educators begin the procedure of “lesson study” by setting a goal for the students and then they collaborate so as to define specific strategies that will lead to the achievement of the goal. This will be carried out by creating a written layout of the lesson which will depict in detail everything that will take place during the teaching process. In the second part, the design and implementation of the project is presented along with the methods used for its realization and a general evaluation of it. Finally, reviews from the participating students that took place for the purpose of this paper are introduced and based on them it becomes clear that the participants have different views on the implementation of the project and the ways they acted
