Η επίδραση τριών αγώνων καλαθοσφαίρισης στη δύναμη καλαθοσφαιριστών κατά την διάρκεια ενός αγωνιστικού μικρόκυκλου (Bachelor thesis)

Was examined the temporal changes of isokinetic strength performance of knee flexor and extensor, during and after three basketball games. Players were randomly assigned to a control (N=8, participated only in measurements and practices) and experimental group (participated also in three basketball games and assigned to a long time (N=9) and a moderate time played group (N=9)). Participants trained daily for a week, muscle damage was assessed daily, maximum isometric torque to the angle of 60 degrees, as well as eccentric and concentric peak torque of knee flexors and extensors at the angular velocity of 60ο/sec and 180ο/sec were measured daily on an isokinetic dynamometer and when the three games started were measured at the same trials at baseline of every game, 24 hours, 48 hours and 72 hours after the third game. Parallel, functional and conventional ratios were calculated. Athletes showed normal values which were not affected by their participation in training during the week’s training program in the control group. In the experimental group: a) found muscle damages both the knee flexors and knee extensors (P<0.05), b) all types of strength of knee flexors and knee extensors approached the lower value before the 3rd game and 24 hours after the 3rd game (P<0.05), c) eccentric peak torque of knee flexors demonstrating a greater reduction than concentric peak torque (P<0.05), d) strength deterioration of knee flexors was greater than knee extensors (P<0.05), e) strength deterioration was greater at 180ο/sec (P<0.05), f) the functional ratio was more sensitive to induced fatigue, demonstrating a more prolong decline until 24 hours after the 3rd game. In conclusion, showed that recovery kinetics of knee flexor and extensor strength after three basketball games may be related on game physical overload, the amount of eccentric actions performed during the games and players’ physical condition level.
