Ideology and children's literature: (Master thesis)

The refugee issue has been of great concern in recent years in Greece and beyond. Heterogeneity in today's societies has made its presence felt, bringing about difficulties of coexistence. Children's literature does not remain indifferent to social issues and approaches everything that concerns society. Thus, this paper examines the ideological positions inscribed in the books, which have been selected for study and which deal with refugees, through the text and their images. Furthermore, it records the way in which the authors choose to approach otherness and present it to the reader. Seven children's books for preschool and primary school children from the last decade by Greek authors were selected for the research, in order to show how the issue of refugees is presented through the eyes of Greek authors in this period when this issue brought intense reactions in Greek society.
