Representations of the pandemic (Covid-19) by school children (Master thesis)

Αδαμίδου, Ερμιόνη/ Adamidou, Ermioni

The purpose of this dissertation is to study, research and analytical presentation of the representations and effects of the coronavirus on primary school students. The research focuses on children's drawings. The sample of the research was 18 students, aged 7-9 years who were studying at the MCCE (Municipal Center for Creative Employment) of Alexandroupolis. More specifically, the students painted 36 sketches. Then through the interviews the students were able to analyze their drawings. The results of the research showed that although the children appeared to be upset or sad, their psychology was not affected to a very significant extent. The children's feelings did not change substantially and they were able to adapt to the changes and integrate them. But they were particularly bothered by the distances. The colors they used in their paintings were brown, black, blue and several other colors, which showed their good psychological state. The most common motifs were the sun, buildings, masks, antiseptics, coronavirus and people.
