Globally and over time, it is estimated that millions of couples are unable to conceive in a natural way. There are a bunch of clinical and more specifically hormonal parameters (FSH, LH, AMH, DHEAS), as well as demographic ones, such as age, body mass index and smoking, which at excessive amounts have an aggravating effect on fertility in both sexes. Infertility has been a problem for humanity for social, biological and humanitarian reasons since ancient times and many efforts have been made for a long time to find an effective solution to the problem. After a series of failed attempts and experiments on July 25, 1978, the first child was born after in vitro fertilization was executed and millions of couples worldwide have been given the opportunity to have a child despite possible problems in the natural process. There are many factors that prevent normal fertilization and their effect is seen in both men (e.g. azoospermia, low sperm motility, etc.) and women (e.g. problems with the egg before fertilization, during transport or implantation of the zygote). The multiplicity of the aforementioned problems has led to the development of many techniques- best known is in vitro fertilization (IVF) - which are selected to be executed depending on the nature and the severity of the problem. In order to clarify whether an embryo is suitable for transfer and implantation in the expectant mother, an embryo grading system has been developed for the first days after IVF is finished and its quality is graded and evaluated based on specific morphological data. In this study we analyze the effect of 7 parameters (age, Body Mass Index, smoking, FSH, LH, AMH, DHEAS) on fetal quality on the second day after IVF is executed in a statistical way and we compare the results with results from the international literature. According to the present study, not all parameters affect the quality of the embryo negatively when abnormal values are observed or excessively used, such as smoking. Only in two cases (BMI, FSH) women have embryos with better grading when normal values are observed. On the contrary, as it appears for LH and DHEAS hormones, a paradoxical emerges; at normal values the quality of the embryo is lower than the embryos of women with normal values for the above. As for the rest parameters the quality of the fetus is not affected by the value of the hormone, the age of the woman or the frequency of smoking. However, in most parameters, FSH excluded, no reliable statistical results are performed, because it appears that P> 0.05 as a result from the T test.
