Συσχέτιση βαρύτητας του ΑΕΕ (NIHSS εισόδου) με την κλίμακα κινδύνου (Master thesis)

Καραματζιάνη, Γεωργία

Background and objectives: To investigate whether there is a correlation between the risk of stroke and the severity of the clinical episode. Materials and methods: 44 patients who suffered an ischemic stroke and were hospitalized at GHA Korgialenio-Benakio EES were registered. For all participants, the entry NIHSS scale, pre-stroke and exit mRS were recorded and 5-year and 10-year SRScore were calculated with the Stroke Riskometer application. The NIHSS scale was correlated with the 5-year and 10-year SRScore. Results: Patients' NIHSS on admission showed a statistically significant positive correlation of moderate intensity with both the 5-year SRScore (Spearman's correlation coefficient ρ =0.339, p<.05) and the 10-year SRScore (ρ =0.325, p<.05). Conclusion: The probability of having a stroke shows a positive correlation with the clinical severity of the potential stroke. Studies with larger numbers of patients are needed to further investigate the association.
