Ocular melanomas though rare are clinical entities encountered in ophthalmic practice that frequently present a diagnostic as well as a management challenge. These tumors threaten not only the vision but also the life of the patient. Currently, clinical and pathology classifications are the only means of staging and evaluate the response to therapy. The purpose of this study is to present the imaging methods currently used in clinical practice as well as the ones which are currently under investigation in patients with choroidal melanoma. In the search a total of 1,170 articles were retrieved and reviewed including review articles, case reports, original studies and clinical trials. Overall prognosis and survival rates largely depend on timely diagnosis and management thus, there is a great need for better diagnostic tools.
