Παπαϊωάννου, Αντώνιος/ Papaioannou, Antonios
The aim of this study is to reveal if there is any relationship between the allergic rhinitis and the quality of sleep. Initially, the work is referred to the quality of sleep as well as to the most common sleep disorders. Also, reference is made to allergic rhinitis and the sleep of patients with allergic rhinitis. Then, a primary quantitative study is performed in order to evaluate the quality of sleep of patients with rhinitis in exacerbation and to compare it with the quality of sleep of the same individuals in a period of controlled rhinitis. Overall, this work shows a relationship between allergic rhinitis, which is the most common allergic disease with progressive increase in community prevalence, and the quality of sleep, one of the most important factors that affect the quality of life. Investigating the presence of allergic rhinitis in patients with sleep disorders and questioning the quality of sleep in patients with allergic rhinitis is essential. However, in order to support these findings, data from a larger number of individuals and integrated clinical trials must be obtained.
