Obese women and alive newborns birth rates after IVF (Master thesis)

Κουκουσέλη, Λαυρεντία- Ευανθία/ Koukouseli, Lavrentia- Evanthia

Obesity is considered to plague the world's population in recent years, and more so the population of the Western world. Disorders that accompany obesity such as hyperinsulinemia, changes in adipokine and sex hormone levels are those that reduce fertility in people with elevated BMI. The problems that emerge are anovulation, poor ova quality and the reduced mechanism of the endometrium to accept a fertilized ovum. The negative effect of obesity also contributes to the increase in spontaneous abortions even after achieving a pregnancy. Studies that have been done from time to time have conflicting results regarding the effect that obesity has on the use of assisted reproduction techniques. It is considered that weight loss is the best option to achieve a pregnancy with the help of IVF.
