The effects of the COVID-19 on the supply chain and its operation in the later era (Master thesis)

The supply chain is one of the most important sectors of any business that contributes to both the financial part and the commercial activity of the company, while at the same time it contributes to the proper and correct operation of the production process of each company. However, the unprecedented conditions that prevailed in the early 2020s and onwards due to the COVID-19 health crisis have affected the operation of supply chains and consequently businesses. Today, after the end of this crisis and while there are potential new crises, businesses have developed mechanisms internally to be able to cope with them and to smooth the impact on them as best as possible. In the context of this paper, we first present the impacts caused by COVID-19 on firms (mainly manufacturing firms) and review the international literature on this topic and present some important variables-factors that need further research and analysis. The conceptual framework developed to examine these factors through a structured questionnaire is then presented and a statistical analysis of these factors is performed after checking their validity. Finally, the results obtained after the analysis is presented, the interpretation of the results is made and useful conclusions are drawn.
