Development of an Adaptive Kanban model for inventory control in the Kleemann Hellas Electronics Plant (Master thesis)

Πασσαλίδης, Γεώργιος/ Passalidis, Georgios

This diploma thesis concerns production control in a production unit. The core responsibilities of a production control system include material planning requirements, managing demand, optimizing performance and the flow of production processes. First, an in-depth study of the term production planning and control is attempted, followed by a literature review of Adaptive Kanban as an inventory management method. The main subject of the thesis is the case study concerning the Electronics Plant of Kleemann Hellas, an elevator manufacturing industry. The Electronics Plant is one of the five production units of the company and has developed activity since 2001. In the context of the case study, the following areas will be analyzed: 1. The organizational structure of the unit, 2. The product range of Kleemann and the Electronics Plant, 3. The unit's work centers and production processes, 4. Mapping the value stream, 5. Performance measurement through indicators, 6. The management of stocks. The aim of the thesis is to record the current situation, highlight the points of improvement that could increase the performance of the unit and propose solutions in this direction.
