Sustainable Development Goals of United Nations in Greek enterprises (Master thesis)

Γκουτζιομήτρου, Μαρία/ Gkoutziomitrou, Maria

The 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), adopted by United Nations member states in September 2015, are an urgent call for action addressed to all developed and developing countries. The main pursuit is world peace and prosperity, eradication of poverty and hunger and economic development. The adoption of the 17 Goals by businesses is positively related to growth and new opportunities. This paper investigates the familiarity of Greek businesses with the above goals. At the same time, the obstacles faced by Greek companies and the possible financial criteria that would support the adoption of the goals are sought. From the survey’s results it is easily understood that the familiarity rate is particularly low. The barriers that were examined (bureaucracy, lack of lack of know-how/awareness, financial situation) contribute equally, while the reduction of operating costs and the increase in popularity-resonance are the most important economic criteria for the adoption of the goals.
