The utilization of the image in the Turkish Language teaching manual of the 2nd grade of Minority Primary schools: (Master thesis)

The aim of this Master's Thesis entitled: "The utilization of the image in the Turkish language teaching manual of the 2nd grade of Minority Primary Schools - Intercultural management", was to identify all the images that accompany the texts of the Turkish language textbook of the 2nd grade class of the minority primary schools and their didactic utilization in the light of interculturalism. In the first and theoretical part of the work, reference was made to minority primary education, the institutional framework that surrounds it, as well as the bilingual curriculum. For the needs of the research, a conceptual approach was made to the term culture and reference to the concepts of multimodality and visual literacy. Then the research questions were posed and the analysis followed. Quantitative and qualitative analysis followed, and the "grammar" of the visual text was used as a methodological tool for the examination of the images of the language textbook of the 2nd grade of the minority elementary schools. A systematic recording and classification of the multimodal compositions of the examined textbook was carried out. The findings of the research provided an answer to the basic questions resulting in some conclusions being drawn, which led to the formulation of didactic proposals.
