This study deals with the following subject: IDIOMS: Recognition, comprehension and use of idioms by children of pre-school age. Our main aim is to see if children at pre-school age are capable od understanding and using more compound forms of speaking (idioms) between them.In the first part of the study, we approach idioms' issue by its theoritical side and we present some ways of teaching them and a review of previous studies after the research of the relevant bibliography.The second part is dedicated to two forms of studies, which are presented in details: First the pilot study that took place in August (away from the kindergarden) and later the main study that took place in March at the kindergarden. Moreover, we present the results of the two studies and we compare them. During the comparison we mainly pay attention to the role of the place (the kindergarden) and the educator (the two main differences between thw two studies), because we believe that these factors can define the results. We consider that this attempt is of great imporance and we hope that it can compose a priming for other students in the future, so that they can design a new project about idioms, which can help them collect more relevant information. We strongly believe that children of pre-school age can be taught more difficult linguistic forms .
