The subject of this study, «Eratosthenes», constitutes a bibliographical review of his life, his work and his offer to sciences one of the greatest mathematicians, astronomers and philosophers of the Middle Hellenistic Period. Eratosthenes invented a prototypal but time-consuming method of finding prime numbers. He based on theories of previous mathematicians and he gave his own solution to the problem of doubling the cube. He was the first who made a surprisingly accurate measurement of the circumference of the earth and he gave a scientific form to Dikearcho’s map, creating the first world mathematical map. He was also occupied with liberal arts. His writing action was heavy, but the scriptures, that have been saved, are very little and the most of information comes from references to synchronous and subsequent commentators. The study, in the end, talks about Eratosthenes’ offer at afterwards process of the branches which he occupied with.
