The objective of the present dissertation is the investigation of the structural system and restoration plan of the buildings of Education Science Departments of DUTh in Alexandroupolis, applying non - linear static (pushover) analysis, as defined in the latest draft of the Greek Code for the Seismic Assessment and Rehabilitation of Buildings (KANEPE). Firstly, the general concept of the Code, which adopts the Performance Based Design, is presented. In particular, information needed for systematic assessment and rehabilitation of concrete buildings, general analysis and design assumptions and requirements, modeling and analysis procedures, acceptance criteria and rehabilitation measures for each component are mentioned. Thereafter the technical description of the case study building, which includes the building’s plans, dimensions, reinforcement and materials of the load bearing system, as well as the design loads, is presented. Afterwards, non - linear static procedure is applied in order to estimate the seismic performance of the building. The analysis leads to the conclusion that the structural system does not meet the current standards and needs strengthening, particularly in the ground level. The strengthening scheme of reinforced concrete jacketing around existing columns is selected and examined.
