The importance of early detection of possible motor difficulties is now widely accepted, due to the serious consequences that these difficulties can have on children's lives, both in the short and in the long term. On this basis, it is necessary to administer movement screening tools that will provide valid and reliable information regarding children’s motor skills levels. The Democritos Movement Screening Tool for Preschoolers (DEMOST-PRE) is designed to detect motor difficulties in pre-school children and its features make it a functional tool of movement screening for wide use. Specifically, it is low cost, time effective, easy to use and score, and its items are presented through dramatization. However, before its use, every new tool needs to be tested for its validity and reliability in order to provide the most accurate assessment of the examinees’ motor development.
