Antihypertensive treatment based on glomerular filtration rate (GFR) in patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD) (Master thesis)

Νεννές, Παναγιώτης/ Nennes, Panagiotis

Hypertension is the single most common modifiable risk factor for cardiovascular disease in chronic kidney disease. International guidelines for usage of specific drug classes and combinations are been followed in order to achieve the blood pressure targets issued. The impact of continuously deteriorating kidney function on the specific drug choices and their combination as well as their dosage is apparent. The cardiovascular and renal benefits after the achievement of blood pressure targets may not be in correlation with the chronic kidney disease staging and new trials focused on this correlation would be greatly appreciated by the Nephrologists.
