Morality and aesthetics of good and beauty (Master thesis)

This dissertation examines the connection between ethics and aesthetics, focusing on the concepts of beauty and goodness as they have evolved to the present day and as depicted in contemporary international literature. Materials and Methods The study was conducted using the bibliographic review method. Specifically, contemporary international literature was searched in the Google Scholar, ScienceDirect, and PubMed databases using keywords such as ethics, aesthetics, goodness, and beauty. Results of the Literature Review The research found that perceptions of beauty are subjective and depend on factors such as historical period, culture, and gender. Additionally, brain activity is related to the perception of beauty, highlighting the complex way in which physical attraction is linked to social recognition. The influence of media and advertising on the perception of beauty underscores how display practices affect self-esteem. Finally, the ethics of beauty and professional ethics emphasize the need for adopting high ethical practices in the field of aesthetics. Conclusions The variety of perceptions of beauty demonstrates its subjective nature. The relationship between beauty and brain activity opens new avenues for understanding physical attraction and social recognition. The influence of media and advertising on self-esteem highlights the need for critical thinking and awareness. The combination of various disciplines, such as philosophy, history, neuroscience, and ethics, offers a multidimensional understanding of the topic, reinforcing the need for adopting ethical approaches in the field of aesthetics.
