Examining the role of trust in leader-member relationships and its influence in team’s cohesion (Master thesis)
Θεοφίλου, Αλέξανδρος/ Theofilou, Alexandros
Trust is a crucial element in the relationships between leaders and team members, as it shapes interaction, communication, and cooperation within the team. When employees trust their leader, they tend to feel more comfortable and secure, which promotes open communication and a willingness to collaborate. Trust between a leader and team members helps to strengthen team cohesion, as it fosters a climate of mutual respect and shared goals. Team members are more likely to share information and actively participate in group activities when there is a sense of trust. On the other hand, a lack of trust can lead to conflicts, reduced cooperation, and isolation among team members. The leader plays a vital role in cultivating and maintaining trust by recognizing and responding consistently and fairly to the needs of team members. Trust is built through dialogue, encouragement, and the leader’s active involvement in team processes. Enhancing team cohesion through trust not only improves team performance but also increases member satisfaction, as they feel they are part of a safe and supportive environment. In this way, trust serves as a foundation for achieving team goals and creating a productive and harmonious work atmosphere that fosters both productivity and creativity.
