Perceptible managerial competencies of physical education teachers in primary and secondary education and their role in improving the education provided (Master thesis)

The purpose of this study was to identify physical educator teachers’ perceptions regarding their own administrative skills and possible differences due to demographic factors. For this reason, the questionnaire of Toh (1997) was used as was translated by Tasiopoulos, Tripolitsioti and Stergioulas (2014) with 24 questions. Eighty-one primary and secondary education teachers responded anonymously to the questionnaire through a google form from both education. The analysis of the data obtained descriptive statistics, reliability analysis and t-test and variance analysis with the Cronbach’s α coefficient of the seven factors of the questionnaire internal consistency ranging from .42 to .82. For the data analysis the IBM SPSS Statistics version 29 was used. The data analysis with exploratory factor analysis, revealed seven factors: "Knowledge of sport" (5 questions), "event management” (1 question), "communication-public relations" (6 questions), "computer skills" (5 questions), "facility-equipment" (2 questions), "risk management" (2 questions), "management techniques" (3 questions). Results didn’t show statistically significant differences according to gender, educational status and age. Οn the contrary, statistically significant differences were found on the factor “communications-public relations” between PET aged <50 and those aged >50 years old. It is concluded that physical education teachers understand that the knowledge skills required for meet their obligations are related to the seven factors examined with ones who are older to give more emphasis to communications-public relations factor.
