Business intelligence capabilities and firm performance (Master thesis)

This master dissertation examines the relationship between Business Intelligence Capabilities and Organizational Performance through the existence of other important factors. These factors are BI Infrastructure Integration, BI Functionality, Organizational Strategy, Organizational Culture, BI System Effectiveness, Human Resources and Organizational Ambidexterity. The statistical analysis was performed using Exploratory Factor Analysis, Reliability Analysis and the technique of Structural Equation Modeling. The research findings highlight the positive impact of innovative BI Capabilities on the organizational performance levels. More specifically, it was shown that BI Infrastructure Integration, BI Functionality and Organizational Strategy have a positive effect on the BI System Effectiveness, which contributes to the development of Human Resources and Organizational Ambidexterity, as well as the overall performance of an organization. Simultaneously, the relationship between Organizational Ambidexterity and Organizational Performance was also underlined, while it was shown that Organizational Culture is not related to the functionality of BI systems, at least through the research factors explored in this conceptual framework, as was also the case with the relationship between HR and overall organizational performance.
