Children with emergent bilingualism in Greek preschool: (Bachelor thesis)

The present study examines the issue of bilingualism in kindergarten children. More specifically, it conducts a systematic literature review aimed at collecting studies related to the legal framework that exists for bilingual pupils in kindergarten classrooms. In addition to Greece, this research investigates the education of bilingual learners in other countries, such as Cyprus, Germany, and Sweden. Following the review of these countries, a comparison is drawn between Greece and the others in order to identify similarities and differences in their educational programs and frameworks for bilingual education among students with a migrant background, as well as to evaluate the challenges and opportunities arising from the implementation of relevant educational practices. The study employs a specific methodology to carry out the systematic review. Through the use of the PRISMA flow diagram, it becomes more feasible to locate studies related to bilingualism both in Greece and abroad. Some studies are excluded during this process, while others are deemed suitable for the development of the thesis.
