The impact of the economic crisis on greek agrifood businesses (Master thesis)

In the context of the global economic crisis, which affected global societies in the economy in terms of survival and well-being, we chose to deal with the primary sector and analyze the crisis's effects on Greece's agri-food firms. This work endeavors to demonstrate the sectors in which the agri-food firms were most affected and the measures taken to reduce the impacts on their economy. The analysis was done in two periods and involved the state of the firms before and after the crisis. We chose quantitative research, addressing a structured questionnaire to 34 agrifood firms. The results indicate that agri-food firms were significantly affected by the economic crisis and have not yet recovered. The obstacles are mainly financial, as the expenses are comparatively higher than the revenues, and there is no adequate support from the state or banks to increase their liquidity.
