Primary education teacher’s view on the influence of the Enlightenment on modern education (Master thesis)

One of the most important movements that had the greatest impact on the field of Education was the Enlightenment movement. The Enlightenment was an ideological and philosophical movement in Europe in the 17th and 18th centuries that promoted the spiritual and political liberation of man, with global influences and effects. The Enlightenment affected all aspects of human activity, because it was due to a variety of socioeconomic and ideological-political conditions that led Europe to a series of significant changes that are still felt today. The Enlightenment expressed the desire for an equal society and the provision of education for all. The influence of the Enlightenment on education was evident, as it was the first organized attempt to create a "new" pedagogical vision that would have its roots in already existing philosophical and pedagogical principles. Specifically, the educators wanted to implement new pedagogical methods in order for people to be freed from the superstitions and prejudices that were entrenched in society and caused fear in the people. Thus, in the thinking of the Enlightenment, a "spiritual" whole was organized in which no theological reference with Christian content was made. An attempt was made to separate religion from education, which created dissatisfaction among the representatives of the church
