Artificial intelligence ethics and deontology in education (Master thesis)

Μαράκης, Ιωάννης

The rapidly developing science of artificial intelligence (AI) has the potential to transform every facet of human social relationships. The quick advancement of computer science in education has resulted in the creation and development of AI applications, which greatly aid in decision-making, teaching, and learning. These are programs that offer students course management and assistance in addition to individualized learning, support, and feedback. In essence, they use cutting edge technology techniques to assist students learn more efficiently, comprehending topics and their respective fields of application. They also handle a significant portion of instructors' administrative responsibilities, freeing them up to focus more on teaching. In addition to giving a historical background, this thesis first looks at what artificial intelligence is. It enumerates the several programming methods that are used to build artificial intelligence. It explains how artificial intelligence and education have been related since the 1950s. It examines how artificial intelligence is being used in education, a field that is always growing and changing. The employment of AI technologies in education raises ethical questions and hazards. It uses the implementation of the fourth goal of sustainable development—ensuring free, equitable, and high-quality education while promoting equal opportunities for lifelong learning—as a point of reference for future challenges and goals pertaining to the integration of AI in education. Since it is certain that AI systems will supplement the Greek educational system in the future, a research study that examines the level of acceptability of AI applications in education by the Greek educational community is finally provided.
