This research investigates the didactic and aesthetic utility of the musical code within juvenile theatrical contexts, specifically examining Mike Kenny's dramatic work, “Rapunzel Without a Fairy Tale”. Juvenile drama represents a critical domain where artistic expression converges with educational objectives, fostering both aesthetic appreciation and the cultivation of cognitive, affective, and interpersonal competencies. Within this conceptual framework, the musical dimension manifests as a potent instrument for theatrical discourse and the construction of meaning. The methodology employed integrates a comprehensive review of pertinent theatrical and pedagogical scholarship, alongside a detailed textual and empirical analysis of the production, utilizing its transcription and ancillary documentation. The foundational theoretical discourse encompasses considerations of juvenile dramaturgy, theatrical semiotics, diverse theatrical codes, and the specific role of the musical code in live performance. Subsequently, the investigation proceeds to an examination of Mike Kenny's creative output, the pivotal personae, the structural principles of the dramaturgy, and the primary thematic vectors inherent in the production. A central focus is dedicated to dissecting the various manifestations of the musical code within the dramatic work, encompassing elements such as the introductory vocal piece, recurring melodic figures, the role of recorded sound via the gramophone, and instances of deliberate aural absence. The ensuing analysis elucidates that music transcends its role as a mere ancillary component of stage action, instead operating as an efficacious conduit of significance that profoundly impacts dramaturgical coherence, the evocation of ambiance, and the affective involvement of the spectators. Moreover, the didactic aspect of the musical code receives considerable attention, given its capacity to foster the advancement of empathetic comprehension, aesthetic refinement, affective discernment, and social consciousness in young audiences. The research ultimately posits that the musical code represents an indispensable element influencing both the aesthetic and didactic efficacy of the production, thereby making a substantial contribution to the holistic theatrical encounter.
