Remote control of home lighting and monitoring temperature and humidity via wifi using ESP-8266 (Bachelor thesis)

Καλλιπολίτης, Κωνσταντίνος Αναστάσιος/ Kallipolitis, Konstantinos Anastasios

This project focuses on the development of a complete and cost-effective home automation system, aiming to monitor environmental parameters (temperature and humidity) and remotely control lighting via Wi-Fi connectivity. The implementation is based on the ESP8266 microcontroller, a widely used and versatile tool in the field of IoT. The system includes a DHT11 sensor for data collection and a relay for controlling lighting circuits. Users can manage the system through applications such as Blynk or via a web server interface, with communication conducted either through HTTP or the MQTT protocol. The work includes theoretical documentation of the technologies used, a description of the system architecture, analysis of hardware and software requirements, as well as a presentation of results and evaluation of the system’s functionality. The system is characterized by low cost, expandability, and user-friendliness, making it suitable for home automation applications.
